Heat compared to Golden-Era NFS? (Underground 2, Most Wanted, Carbon) : r/needforspeed r/needforspeed • 4 yr. ago Neggy5 Heat compared to Golden-Era NFS? (Underground 2, Most Wanted, Carbon) Discussion What is the general consensus here? Is NFS Heat worthy as a successor to the best of the series?
Need for speed heat scratches the itch, but just barely. It'd be perfect if it weren't so horribly optimized. Great free roam and game loop structure, and A-MAZING car customization. The cop chases don't feel the same either and feel too clunky. That could have been forgiven if the game didn't freeze in the middle of playing. TL;DR: Stick to the highways and the DB9 will serve you very well. Drive of the highways and other cars will be better. The Audi A3 and A4 are unlocked very early (BL 15 and 14) and they come with good weight and AWD. They're great choices for early pursuit cars that also hold up in the late game. Tomcats-be-epic.
They're definitely not as wacky as burnout, but they are a ton of fun. The best game to compare them to is NFS: Prostreet. Though, in my opinion, the free roaming and the better customization makes the Horizon series way better. IF you like car games, you'll have fun. I think the original Horizon is going for like, 13 bucks at Gamestop.

Need for Speed has experienced many modifications, mainly due to changing development studios. The first Need for Speed from 1994 was visually stunning – and then it all got better. 2012’s Need for Speed: Most Wanted significantly improved that quality for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and many other platforms.
