5811 posts · Joined 2005. #2 · Aug 10, 2012 (Edited) The "Emergency Engine Kill Switch" is just that.an easy to access way to shut down the engine in the event of a problem, ie; a stuck throttle, etc.. The MSF has you use it to shut down the bike so that you'll learn where it's at and how to use it without hesitation. It's a beginners lesson.
Brake Light Bulb Replacement - Need help. I bought a 99 Honda Shadow 750 a couple weeks back, and my brake light hasn't worked since I bought the bike. I looked around the forum for discussion about bulbs, and I saw references to 1157's, and 2057's, and rotating them 180 degrees if they are glowing bright all the time.
Replace it and try it. If it just dims the lights, the next thing I'd do is a quick check to make sure the motor isn't locked up. Put it in 2nd gear, roll the bike, and drop the clutch like you are trying to bump start it.
After digging through boxes of EverStart batteries at Walmart, the EverStart ES9BS was a perfect match for the YTZ14S. The EverStart reference guide lists a different battery which was too tall. About $55 for the ES9BS compared to the YTZ14S which I was quoted $180 for a new one. Just thought I would share.
